C5’s First Edition of
Anti-Corruption North Africa
14th – 15th May 2014
InterContinental Paris- Avenue Marceau, France
C5 is proud to announce an inaugural two-day conference on Anti-Corruption North Africa. Three years after the “Arab Spring” uprisings and the North African economy is in the process of restoration. This important and emerging market is a prime target for global companies. Owing to its francophone status and geographical location, North Africa has already attracted much French investment. Corruption, however, remains rife.
The challenge: to implement an effective and ongoing compliance programme in North Africa. This high-risk region presents particular challenges, such as the unavoidable use of third parties. Local business etiquette and cultural differences render foreign companies vulnerable to serious corruption risks.
Foreign businesses falling under the jurisdiction of the US Foreign and Corrupt Practices Act or the UK Bribery Act risk burdensome investigation and devastating fines for corrupt practices in North Africa. This is evidenced by the recent probe of Eni SpA, Sonatrach for allegations of corruption in Algeria.
C5’s First Edition of Anti-Corruption North Africa brings together a leading faculty of experienced in-house and private practice lawyers, risk officers, compliance executives and government officials from Algeria, Egypt, Libya and Morocco to take you through key corruption risk areas and risk management strategies.
